Common questions

Account & login

I forgot my password — how do I reset it?
If you saved your recovery code when you signed up, head to v2.mychappie.com/recover and use it to set a new password.

No recovery code? Email us at info@mychappie.com (or use the form below) and we'll get a reset link to you. Reset links expire after 24 hours, so use it as soon as it arrives.
Why am I being asked to sign in again?
Your access token refreshes silently for up to 7 days after your last login. After that, you need to sign in again. We also log suspicious concurrent logins from different locations for your records — that doesn't sign you out, but it's worth checking with us if you see one you don't recognize.
Can I change my email address?
Yes, but it's not self-serve. Submit a request below with your current email and the new one you'd like to use, and we'll work with you to make the change.

App, web & voice

Voice isn't working on iPhone.
Chappie uses Apple's built-in speech recognition on iPhone, which needs two iOS permissions: Microphone and Speech Recognition. Open Settings → Chappie on your phone and confirm both are enabled.

Apple's docs walk through changing app permissions: support.apple.com.

If permissions look right but voice still won't work, restart the app and try once more, then send us your iPhone model and iOS version below.
Voice isn't working in the browser.
Browser voice uses your browser's built-in speech recognition. You'll need to grant microphone permission to mychappie.com (look for the lock or microphone icon in the address bar). Each browser handles this a bit differently:

Chrome — manage site permissions
Safari — website settings
Edge — camera and microphone

Firefox's speech support is limited — if voice is critical, use Chrome, Safari, or Edge instead.
I'm not getting proactive check-ins.
Check-ins are scheduled during your conversations with Chappie — when you agree to a follow-up, Chappie sets it. You can see, reschedule, or pause anything that's been scheduled in Settings. If you're not getting push notifications when a check-in fires, confirm notifications are enabled at the OS level: Settings → Notifications → Chappie on iPhone, or your browser's notification permission for the web app.

Data & privacy

Who can read what I tell Chappie?
Your conversations and personal data are encrypted with a key only your password can unlock. Chappie operators can't read your content. See our Privacy Policy for the full breakdown.
How do I delete my account and data?
You can delete your account directly from inside the app — Settings → Account → Delete Account. You'll be asked to confirm with your password. Deletion is immediate and irreversible: your encrypted content is removed and cannot be recovered. If you can't get into the app to do this, reach out below.
Can my unit / command see my conversations?
No. Unit administrators can manage seats and access — they cannot read individual member conversations, memories, or notes. Each user has their own encryption key tied to their own password, so unit admins have no technical path to read member content. It's a guarantee built into the architecture, not a policy promise.

Crisis resources

I'm in crisis right now — what do I do?
If you or someone you know is in crisis, reach out immediately:

• Veterans Crisis Line — call 988, then press 1
• Text 838255
• Chat: veteranscrisisline.net/get-help-now/chat

For a life-threatening emergency, call 911. Chappie is not a substitute for emergency services or a clinician.
Does Chappie replace therapy?
No. Chappie is an operations partner, not a therapist or doctor. We refer out to professional help — and surface 988 — whenever crisis signals appear. If you're working with a therapist or chaplain, Chappie is meant to complement that, not replace it.
